New York City: Flatotel: "Great Hotel Experience"

HUGE rooms with most comfortable beds this side of a Ritz or 4 Seasons! Great high speed internet connection, huge work area with all outlets for computer etc., MASSIVE tub and Barcelona style sofa in the room.
Still can't get over the generous square footage for a hotel in Manhattan.
Centrally located and everything from MOMA to the Theatre DIstrict is a short walk away.
Only complaint is that room service is at the mercy of the restaurant on the property and the food is less than adequate and they are slow to deliver.
But with so many of NY's finest eating establishments in the neighborhood, I can live with a mediocre in-house restaurant.

New York City: Flatotel: "Excellent value for money"

My husband and I stayed at the Flatotel for four nights from 28 December - 1 January 05.
The location is fantastic. Time Square is just around the corner and everything we wanted to see was within walking distance.
The room was very spacious and allowed us to spread out.
My only criticism would have to be that upon check-in the receptionist took a deposit from our creditcard and didn't tell us before swiping the card. We had pre-paid our room and just didn't expect the extra cost, especially when we were at the end of our holiday and wanted to keep as much money as possible for last minute shopping. I suggest you ask if they are going to take a deposit (as I think is was around $150-$200). They are flexible and won't take the deposit if you speak with them.
On the positive side, the room has a fridge and microwave, so if you are like me, you can buy a few things like fresh milk for coffee and heat up any leftovers you might have brought back to the hotel.
I recommend this hotel to anyone going to NY. It was great value for money (just under $1000 including taxes for four nights including NYE). My husband and I will stay there if we ever visit again.

New York City: Flatotel: "Great holiday gift"

Checked in on Dec. 14 and out on Dec. 19th a very very happy visitor. Other than elevator challenges and a neighbour who left CNN on the TV very loudly overnight, it was a flawless visit. Staff were super, the accommodation glorious and the room and bathroom sizes incredible by NY standards. The location was perfect for a quick walk to the theatre and the myriad sights and locations in the mid-town area.
I have stayed in shi shi spots in many locations and I would say the room compared favourably to many high-end locations. For $189 a night in the holiday season, I was thrilled. Way to go Flatotel!

New York City: Flatotel: "Better than expected"

I read all the reviews and decided to book a one night stay. My usual places (Sofitel, W Union Square, Le Parker Meridien) were all full. The Flatotel wasn't cheap ($400/night) but it was very nice and I would go back. The room had the look at feel of the Sofitel and W Union Square. It was good size by NYC standards and it was quiet!!!!!
Bathroom was nice. The bed might be a little hard for some people (mattress on a platform, no box spring). Free High Speed Internet is a big plus. Room service food was good, though the choices from the restaurant downstairs were a bit limited.
Overall I'd say this is very similar, to and compares favorably, with the Meridien.

Spent 4 nights in mid November and was impressed. Great location in Midtown Manhatten, close to Times Sq, 5th Avenue & New York. HUGE rooms by New York standards, tastefully furnished with modern decor and the biggest TV I've ever seen in a hotel room! Lobby bar was cool, always full of life and reasonably priced food & drink. Tucked in between 6 & 7th Aves, hotel was quiet. Views not great but plenty of bars & restaurants close at hand. A real find!
